After five long years of playing I decided to more or less leave the World of Warcraft behind. What once was just a world full of adventure and delight to me, also became a strange kind of burden somewhere along the way.
I surely had a lot of fun and I feel privileged by having led the oldest and surely the craziest guild on our server for more than four years. I found some true friends and what more could I possibly expect from playing a computer game? But then again… my previous addiction brought me in my current job as a return, so maybe there are still some things to come. Just maybe.
Just to be clear: By saying „more or less“ I mean that I’m not going delete my characters, give away all my stuff and upload a video of this featuring a lot of drama to Youtube. I don’t like that kind of pathetic affectation anyway. I’ll doubtlessly be even in the game from time to time. Seldom.
Right now I’m wasting my spare time with reading an awful lot of things (mostly blogs and journals) on the net and getting in shape for the next zombie apocalypse. Nah, not the cardio kind of „in shape“ as suggested by the utterly funny movie „Zombieland“, but the kind that has to do with aiming skills and reaction, as needed in Valve’s super blockbuster game „Left 4 Dead 2“.

OMG you actually stop playing WoW?! Like… for good? But then again, I said something along those line too not that long ago and returned 🙂 ! Well, kind of returned anyway, considering that I stopped playing again afterwards 🙂 .
I think as long as you don’t exaggerate it’s totally fine to play WoW. I like to think that I kept it pretty balanced with the rest of my life and you as my former guild leader should know best that I really haven’t spent too much time in WoW.
If you wanna spend some quality time with a single player game, get Mass Effect 1 and 2 and experience the best story ever in a video game!!! This game mind-fucked me beyond reason! I can’t wait for the last installment!!!
Well Thorsten, to be honest it was some of the people taking the whole shit too damn serious what made me leave. It just ain’t funny if guys that not even remotely have a clue come to you on a daily basis and rant about how you always totally mess things up.
But as stated above, I’m not going to stop playing WoW completely. I’ll be there from time to time – and if you’re going play again there will be plenty of chances to waste our time together.
Right now I’m playing Drakensang 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 a lot. Mass Effect 2 is definitely the next single player game on my list.
I so totally know what you’re talking about!!! I also hate it so much when people don’t get the simple fact that even WoW is just a game which is supposed to be fun and not work! Too many take this game too seriously! I’m really looking forward to some quality play-time with you in WoW… the relaxed and easy kind of time that is 😉 !
Left 4 Dead 2 is also on my game list by the way. I just can’t play it here in AUS with our Internet connection and prices 🙂 ! There will be blood…
